Newsletter

I'm doing one.

It's going to be a monthly round-up of all my writing news and where to read my stories. Plus I think it's going to have a round-up of all the short story markets I've got my eye on.

If you'd like to sign-up, you can do it here.

Now, you writers who are already doing this, any tips?

  1. I signed up! Cool. As for tips, I'd say automate it as much as possible. I have mine driven from my RSS feed, and then I manually add stuff to the top each month. I even, using some clever interweb jiggery-pokery, automatically filter out posts that have certain tags on them. So, fr'instance, anything tagged "newsletter" doesn't go in the newsletter - because it's probably me encouraging folks to sign up and people already reading the newsletter don't need to see that.

Does this make any kind of snse whatsoever?

    1. Yes, that makes sense. Thanks Simon! I like your newsletter very much. It's fun getting the subscribers, ain't it?

    2. It is! I also have a separate list for readers (folks who sign up via links in the back of books rather than blog readers) and, while that list is smaller, it feels like a real win when someone signs up there as they're effectively saying they want to read more by me...

  2. Count me in -- you know I'm a fan. A round-up of markets sounds great. I try to keep mine simple, and so far, nobody's unsubscribed.
