If You Love Something Let It Go ... Weird Tales and Apex

A quick note to let my comrades in the short story trenches know. Under new ownership Weird Tales has released it's stories on submission. Under new editorship Apex has released/rejected the stories previously under Catherynne Valente's further consideration (current subs should be chugging through the system).

  1. Yes, I saw that WT had done that. Didn't know about Apex. Ah well.

In other news, I got my copy of Full Fathom Forty today. Looks great. Looking forward to that science fiction/lesbian/zombie/romance story of yours.

Bless your heart for remembering, Simon. As you might expect I'm super excited about my table of contents buddies.

Debs also says: why won't blogger let me comment on my own page?

  3. Glad to know I'm not the only one who had a story "under review" at Apex only to have it cut loose without further comment. AND glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with Blogger today...

But on a brighter note, congrats on reaching your September Write1Sub1 goals. Onward and upward!

  4. Yeah, I had something at both these markets too. Still, it gave me an opportunity to procrastinate over at Duotrope.

  5. I think I'm confused. I have a story at Apex right now, but it only reads "Submitted" in the Hey Publisher hub. Am I safe?

Milo and Cate, I think there were an awful lot of us with stories under consideration at Apex.

Joe -- you're good to go. It's only stories that had been sent to the previous editor that have been released.

  7. Just stopping by to say congrats on your W1S1 progress this month, Debs! I am one of the unfortunate ones to get an R from Apex :( I subbed right before they transitioned to Hey Publisher and when Catherine was leaving. I had to query on my story eventually because there was no way to check status like there is now. I'm so glad they've switched over to a submission tracker. It's much easier to obsess now :)

  8. Hey Debs! Congratulations on your success with W1S1. I see from the little news tracker in the upper right that a number of your stories have been published. Great job sticking with it. Best of luck in October!
