I've gone and done it. Thanks to Elizabeth, I've signed up to A Story a Day in May. I've been enjoying Write1 Sub 1 so much, that I thought I'd go to the extreme.
A Story a Day in May, well it does what it says on the tin. A story: you decide how long every day. I've had a little practice today. Ah, these self-imposed challenge, the funny thing is they seem to work. I felt, anxious today, I had a real sense of needing to get thing written. I managed a flash (1000 words almost complete, and 2000 words towards tomorrow's story).
This is fun.
Oh good lord, another stupid blogfest? These things are out of control.
ReplyDeleteAhem, it's not a blogfest. It's a, I don't know, a challenge. We're our own task masters. I find these challenge intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI challenge you, Rogue Mutt, to write a story a day. It's hard. C'mon. Get 30 stories to be submitted in May, woudln't that be cool?
You be crazy!!
ReplyDeleteI might have to join you...
That's more brutal than NaNoWriMo!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! Good luck :D
ReplyDeleteHooray! BTW, May is 31 days...I'm sweating already.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I might join you!
ReplyDeleteWell done Deborah - I did Story A Day last year and, obviously, W1S1 this year. I don't think I'm going to attempt both though! Respect is due. At least you don't have to worry about W1S1 in May : do Story A Day and you've automatically got W1S1 covered!
ReplyDeleteSylvia and Milo, come on in, the water's lovely.
ReplyDeleteMichael and Trisha -- mad isn't it? The stories can be as small as you want, though.
Simon, how did you find it, last year?
Goodness, that is an undertaking and a half! Best of luck to you :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Rach
You're insane. INSANE!!! But I like your style.
ReplyDeleteHi, Cate and Rach, -- Story a Day is creeping up on me. I've got a plan-- a list of venues for the first 15 days. I actually feel nervous, it could end in tears, but what the hey.
ReplyDelete...and hey, CONGRATS on reaching your Write1Sub1 goals this month!
ReplyDeleteI'm completely failing Write1Sub1, mostly because I've been submitting stories something like once every two months. But I have been writing - partly because my professors make me, too - and I think just writing will get me motivated.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very roundabout way of saying I'm going to say I'm going to do this, and then fail miserably as I watch you succeed fabulously. It's always nice to have such a good role model! =)
Go, Debs! I'm searching for something more insightful to say, but i got nothing :D
ReplyDeleteWrite hard! May your daily stories lead to daily glories. Or something less corny.
Hey Sam, it's just enough that you stopped by --I appeciate it.
ReplyDeletejys-- that's great. Are you on the site? I want to be your friend, but I don't know your name. Friend me.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching your W1S1 goals for April. I wish I was as prolific in writing as you. Good luck with that story a day challenge. I can't imagine doing that.
ReplyDeleteDave K
Hi Dave, thanks for swinging by. And as for Story-a-Day, it might all end in tears, but it's good to push yourelf a little-- sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great. If I weren't in the thick of revisions, I'd take part in the story a day challenge. It's such a great way to focus our creativity.
ReplyDeleteI am seriously failing the Story a Day. I'm inspired, but life is crazier than normal right now.
