Book Club Snacks: Advice Needed

Edit: Go here to see what I served to my guests.

I'm hosting my book club tomorrow night. We read, 'Before I Go To Sleep.' I'm looking for suggestions for book club snacks. So far, I've got: vegetable crisps.

I don't mind a little cooking. Any advice gratefully received. Do you book club? If so, what do you like to eat while doing so?

  2. That sound utterly delicious, Joe. I can see that I've got to up my game. I was thinking about a tub of shop bought humuus-- if they were lucky.

  3. My writers group has become a bit of a culinary delight for all. I never contribute though. Unless I bring alcohol.

  4. I always bring a fruit tray with some sort of yogurt dip. Seems to disappear each time.

  5. Hi Rusty. Hi, Trisha. I've now made a gorgeous spinach dip, and a red guacamole (I must have used too many tomatoes). Also going to make hot-crab dip, this afternoon with my daughter (are you sensing a theme)?

Fruit tray and yoghurt dip sounds yummy. I'm going to go out this afternoon and panic-buy more snacks.

  6. Hmm, well, being an advocate of healthy eating, I'd day real food such as a fruit platter and dips stuff like that. Or you can go all out and make something totally extravagant but they'll be washing up afterwards. Eek

  7. I'm afraid I don't book club - but I would have thought chocolate biscuits, no?

  8. I'm not part of a book club, but if I was, I'm afraid I'd do more eating than reading.

  9. Hi, Simon and J.L.

Chocolate in all its form is going to go down well with a group of women.

  10. I wish I had a book club. I'd love some Reesee's and kisses chocolate.

  11. I don't club, but I like Doritos salsa verde chips. They're crap, I know, but SO good.

  12. Milo, my son is mad for flaming hot Doritos. He's really obsessed with them. I make him eat a banana before every packet.

  13. Len, you should start one. I'm making my group read 'Game of Thrones' -- a fantasy novel. They are not happy-- but as I pointed out, it does have Sean Bean on the cover. Yum, yum, better than chocolate?

  14. Hmm... I've never been to a book club, but I think that simple snacks are better. Maybe a cheese platter or crackers with a variety of toppings?

    :-)
